Doesnt show any volumes to recover data from.
Nice try, guys. If you want to make fake reviews, try putting a little effort into the variations. All the reviews are written the same way and use the same "found my deleted photos on my usb" story.
A previous review tells my story. I run the app and it does not discover any of my drives. Pretty useless and in my opion, pretty bad coding to have a bug that does not allow software to even discover the hard drives on a computer.
i dont know who they are paying to give it 5 stars, but this doesnt work. doesnt find any drives. i guess its a bait and switch thing.
Enough said.
Totally useless.
Will not find drives !! JUNK
Does not read drive. Nothing happening. Definitely dont want to upgrade. In the trash.
Same experience as everyone else. I have 10.6.8 and it doesnt pick up my drive. Just need to recover a few photos, so dont want to dish out big money.
Upgraded to Mavericks, and it can’t find my drive.
I had to give this app at least 3 stars because even though I had the same problem with no disks/volumes showing up to select in this app, after 20 minutes of searching on the Softtote website I finally found a solution. The problem is a compatibility issue with the newer versions of OSX. I think Softtote should really update the description so that customers can know before hand what version of OSX this is compatible with. Once I downloaded the current version from the Softtote website it worked just fine. I have a 1tb hard drive and am running a few other programs, so it says a full search will take around 7 hours. I made a rookie mistake with my business and have to recover these files so Ill bend over and take it. Here is what their website says: 2. Cant show my devices with your software, why? Reason: App Store doesnt accept new apps or app updates, so the version you download or purchase from App Store is not the latest updated version. If you are running the Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, the App Store version cannot read or scan your internal disk(s) or external device(s) at all. Solution: So after purchase from App Store, please go to download the latest version from our website. The new downloaded version will automatically be automatically registered and can read or scan your both internal disk(s) and external device(s). (It will not charge you any longer)
I was trying to back up my laptop to my external hard drive and accidentally deleted the wrong "photos" folder (and emptied the trash!) I had separate backups of nearly everything in the folder except for all of my Photo Booth webcam pictures. Fortunately, this software was easily able to recover the entire folder of Photo Booth pictures within an hour. The userface is not very good, but Im just happy to have my photos back. I did notice that many non-jpg file types (.psd, mostly) looked highly corrupted in the recovery preview, so maybe this software is best for .jpg and .png than other photo file types.
I had an SD card suddenly become unreadable by my camera and my computer while there were still pictures that needed to be saved. After reading so many reviews about not seeing any drives show up I was concerned I would have the same issue. When I first launched the app it seemed I did, in fact, have that issue; however I ended up letting it stay open in the background while I looked for other options and when I happened to switch back to it I suddenly had drives listed. From there it was relatively quick to scan the card and recover the photos. Bottom line: This app worked for me but should have had some bit of UI to indicate it was scanning for disks (that seems like the only reasonable explination for the delay) so as not to appear non-functional.
Dont waste your time. It will not find your drive.
no complaints I did have to go to website and install new version, though, for it to recognize my SD card inserted into my Macbook Air running 10.9 (the App store version didn’t find it) After that, it ran for about 3-4 minutes, found ~75 images, which I quickly copied to my desktop and found the images I had lost Thanks Soft Tote !
This app worked great recovering deleted images from an SD card. So much better and faster than MediaRECOVER that we had previously used. And no bull###t dealing with activation codes and lack of response from the support on that software. Very pleased. Thank you for the freeware in this day and age….
dose not show any volumes to search, any one that says it dose is lying
Could not find my cf card
could not discover any drives.
