Silly app. In free version you can get some pics (png, bmp, jpg) and mp3, for something more you need to buy another app with license

Crashes every time I try to recover my photos, and I have to start the recovery process over. I’ve successfully recovered 8 photos in about 4 attempts totalling 2 hours. Worthless app.

One of my older CF cards became corrupted and this was an easy (and inexpensive) fix! Highly recommended for simple problems (like recovering JPEGS). I recovered everything I needed sucessfully. I did have to go to the website and get the more recent update, but after that…worked like a charm!

How can I recover files if the program can’t find any of the 3 or 4 volumes I have mounted? Uninstalling...

One day I delete everything on my external hard drive. I go to the App Store, (because it is part of Apple right?) I download Softtote, pay for the upgrade and low and behold it will not move past 95%, after two days of this I moved on to another software company that handles data recovery… I asked for my money back and still have not received any of my funds from this company. They have as of yet; not answered any of my emails. peace from prince

It’s a trick to buy an “updated” version. It didnt’t work even for the basics! Not worthy at all

The App is supposed to be very good, running under Maverics it doesnt show the volume at all. Not even a HDD of the notebook.

On OSX 10.9 Data Recovery "Free" doesn’t do anything before you pay 60.-€ for an upgrade. Annoying!

does not show any drives so I could not even start it...

Trying to recover dleted files on my iphone but it doesnt even pick it up although it is connected!!

This photo recovery software works beautifully!! Its quick, clean and easy. I love the business model: free jpgs and upgrade for other files. Brilliant! Unfortunately the app version I downloaded wouldnt work with Mountain Lion otherwise I would have given a 5 star. I contacted the online support team and received an email response within 5 minutes. I downloaded the website version as suggested and it worked fine. Well done Softtote. Congratulations!

In a test, I used Data Recovery Free to scan and recover image files from a USB drive. It not only found 8 photos that Id added to the drive then deleted AFTER erasing the drive, but a multitude of files from before I erased and renamed the drive. While this app cant be used to scan some devices (like an attached iPhone), there are alternatives that do. (I used Windows software running with Codeweavers CrossOver, which worked, but not native Mac software.) When I erased the drive for the test, I didnt use Security options: If I had, this app might have found fewer files, but still would have found the 8 test files. What this free app does, it does extremely well!

photo recovery from memory card is not possible without spending $59.99. Do not bother downloading best free app are avaliable online

This came up blank, showing not even my Mac HD drive, let alone the USB stick I wanted to restore files from.

I wanted to recover some JPGs but when I have the software installed I have no drives available to scan… DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!!
